The story
How it went.
Jasper (57) from Lisserbroek has long been a pioneer in electric mobility. After driving electric cars for over eleven years, switching to electric boating was a natural next step. With his 12.5-meter Crown Keijzer S40E, he now enjoys the Dutch waterways in complete tranquility.
“The silence is incredible,” Jasper says enthusiastically. “Boating has become even more relaxing than it already was.” Since making the switch, he’s noticed a major difference – not just in noise levels (“you only hear the water”) but also in maintenance and overall comfort.
Finding the right electric motor wasn’t without its challenges. Many suppliers were hesitant, but Jasper eventually found a provider who gave him confidence in the solution.
His advice to other boat owners? “Absolutely go for it. The experience is completely different from boating with a diesel engine. Just make sure you get familiar with the technology and choose a battery pack that suits your boating habits. For day trips, you don’t want to rely on a generator.”
Jasper now sails fully electric and wouldn’t want it any other way. His story is a great example of future-focused and comfortable boating.
