The story
How it went.
The AdmiralsTender X28 Hybrid combines quiet, comfortable electric boating with the power and range of a diesel engine. This hybrid version needed a flexible propulsion system that brings both ways of boating together.
For the electric side, a 10 kW electric motor from Green Marine was chosen, combined with a 10.2 kWh GM battery pack. This lets the X28 cruise calmly and whisper-quietly and manoeuvre smoothly, for example in canals and harbours.
When more speed or power is wanted, the boat switches over to the powerful 195 hp Yanmar diesel engine. With it the tender reaches speeds of well over 50 km/h and can cover longer distances. While running on diesel, the batteries can also be recharged.
