Norsafe SJOEK
A rugged Norsafe given a second life on electric propulsion. The original 29 hp Buck diesel engine made way for a 10 kW electric motor and a 20 kWh battery pack from Green Marine Motors. Quiet, emission-free cruising through the canals of Amsterdam.

The story
How it went.
SJOEK is an 8.5 metre Norsafe of around 4 tonnes, used on the canals of Amsterdam. The boat was originally powered by a 29 hp Buck diesel engine. The wish was to replace this trusted drive with a fully electric system better suited to boating in the city.
The diesel engine therefore made way for a 10 kW electric motor from Green Marine Motors, combined with a 20 kWh battery pack. The result is a quiet, smooth drive that lets SJOEK cruise comfortably through the Amsterdam canals without local emissions.
The complete electric installation was fitted by Blynk. The existing Norsafe was converted to electric propulsion while the character and look of the boat were preserved.
With the electrification of SJOEK, an existing, rugged boat gets a modern drive and is ready for many quiet kilometres through Amsterdam.
